So I was at the Just for Graphs show by the Festival of the Spoken Nerd (@FOTSN) in Bristol last night. Relatively early in the show Matt Parker was talking about doing a demonstration using a flaming tennis ball (to show a parabola). My immediate reaction was "don't be daft, use a fire juggling ball instead"....
Long story short, when they returned to the segment, a fire juggling ball was involved (sourced from Oddballs). From chatting to them after the show, I've found out that both Matt Parker and Steve Mould can juggle - Steve is working on four balls and is learning how to pass, while Matt seems to know several of the UK jugglers who are involved in the MathsJam scene.
Knowing the number of mathematically minded jugglers, I thought that I'd mention it. It was definitely interesting to see how some quite theoretical concepts can be presented on stage in an engaging way... I think that some interesting lessons could be transferred to those wanting to present technical juggling routines in a comedic way.
