One of those posts connects up with my new interest in performance structures that don't build to a climax at the end...

SO I recently had the privilege of going one of those super fancy restaurants where dinner has zillions of courses and it's at least half theatre as well as dinner. This dinner had an actual interval half way through, during which the staff reset all the (copious) cutlery and wine glasses and so forth. The presentation built to a climax at the second course of the second act; after which it wound down through several more dessert and cheese related courses into chocolates and coffee.

So now I am interested in finding other examples of performances that wind down towards the end, or in fact any effective but unconventional performance structure.

This blogger's example is I guess a "throwaway surprise", the art of chucking in something amazing in passing and then carrying straight on so the audience don't have time to gasp. The opposite of the applause point,if you will. Magic!
