I used small 5 cm 55 gr beanbags for flashing, still then upto ~20 catches of 7 balls and now do for flashing 9 balls. It to me didn't seem necessary to cope with initially 500 gr balls' weight in the strong hand as well as struggling with a cramped grip and false release and cramped catching on 6,3 cm balls. - But I never used the "fourth loose on top"-grip, but diamond grip (with ringfinger) which affects the three other balls, so my arguments might not apply for the former. Yet for three balls in the weak hand, gripping a third will in any case affect the two others.
When, later, you got to frequent qualifying level and less early fails, it will be necessary to get used to `right´ (whichever) balls' weight and size anew for thoroughly juggled balls, implying a step back in length of runs for a while, is the poor side of that approach.

Also, I'm pretty sure that very / pretty soft balls devour effort (simply squished away when throwing) and haven't a stable reliable mass-center, which also consumes surplus energy for giving them direction, for the mere gain of partly better (squeezy) grip (but in case problems with releases and giving them direction) and easier catching, thus being suboptimal for throwing a well-spaced pattern accurately.
