First of all, Kremo isn't a gentleman juggler. Gentleman jugglers use common household items that might be found in a gentleman's home. Kremo is a three piece juggler, which is usually a juggler who does three balls, three hats, and three cigar boxes. While the Kremos are the most famous three piece jugglers, the Elliots and the Schweitzers were also innovators in the genre.
I do feel adding higher numbers, especially with no flair, does take away from the act. I hate to see someone develop an act with a theme, either overt or subtle, and then throw in something that doesn't fit. Even gentleman jugglers Kara and Salerno did this. They used only common household items, and then threw in a weird invention for no discernible reason. Salerno did the Salerno Ring and Kara did the Kara Box. While I love both of those routines, they didn't fit with everything else they did.
